Issues Facing Young Parents

The Young Parents Speak Out video explores the experiences of young parents in the Shoalhaven. The video provides balanced an dreality based information to adolescents, enabling them to review the demands of parenting before the actual commitment to become a parent has been made. For those who are already parents it is hoped that the video validates their experiences and provides information relevant to their role as a young parent. A wide range of issues facing young parents is discussed including;

• Pregnancy
• Childbirth
• Post-natal depression
• Contraception
• Maintaing school studies
• Relationships

It is expected that the video will be useful to individuals, school groups, youth groups, general practitioners and other health care proffessionals. This project is an initiative of the Shoalhaven Division Of General Practise Youth Health Program and is funded by the Department of Health and Aged Care.
